The present is embodied in Hexagram 50 - Ting (The Caldron): There is an intimation of great progress and success.
The third line, undivided, shows the cauldron with the places of its ears changed. The progress of its subject is thus stopped. The fat flesh of the pheasant which is in the cauldron will not be eaten, but the genial rain will come, and the grounds for repentance will disappear. There will be good fortune in the end.
The fifth line, divided, shows the cauldron with yellow ears and rings of metal in them. There will be advantage through being firm and correct.
The sixth line, undivided, show the cauldron with rings of jade. Three will be great good fortune, and all action taken will be in every way advantageous.
The situation is shifting, and Yin (the passive feminine force) is gaining ground.

The future is embodied in Hexagram 47 - K'un (Oppression): Despite exhaustion, there may yet be progress and success. For the firm and correct, the really great man, there will be good fortune. He will fall into no error. If he make speeches, his words cannot be made good.
The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Li (Fire), which is transforming into Tui (Lake). As part of this process, brightness and warmth are giving way to joy, pleasure, and attraction.
The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Sun (Wind), which is transforming into K'an (Water). As part of this process, penetration and following are giving way to danger and the unknown.
