Today's I Ching for Alan Greenspan
The coins have been tossed...

| The present is embodied in Hexagram 5 - Hsu (Waiting): With sincerity, there will be brilliant success. With firmness there will be good fortune, and it will be advantageous to cross the great stream. | | The second line, undivided, shows its subject waiting on the sand of the mountain stream. He will suffer the small injury of being spoken against, but in the end there will be good fortune. | | The third line, undivided, shows its subject in the mud close by the stream. He thereby invites the approach of injury. | | The fourth line, divided, shows its subject waiting in the place of blood. But he will get out of the cavern. | | The fifth line, undivided, shows its subject waiting amidst the appliances of a feast. Through his firmness and correctness there will be good fortune. | | The situation is changing rapidly, and Yin (the passive feminine force) is gaining ground. |

| The future is embodied in Hexagram 51 - Chen (Shock): There is an intimation of ease and development. When the time of movement comes, the subject will be found looking out with apprehension, yet smiling and talking cheerfully. When the movement, like a crash of thunder, terrifies all within a hundred li, he will be like the sincere worshipper, who is not startled into letting go his ladle and cup of sacrificial spirits. | | The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram K'an (Water), which is transforming into Chen (Thunder). As part of this process, danger and the unknown are giving way to movement, initiative, and action. | | The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Chi'en (Heaven), which is transforming into Chen (Thunder). As part of this process, strength and creativity are giving way to movement, initiative, and action. |
