Today's I Ching for William Gibson
The coins have been tossed...

| The present is embodied in Hexagram 55 - Feng (Abundance): Progress and development is intimated. When a king has reached the point of abundance, there is no occasion to be anxious through fear of a change. Let him be as the sun at noon. | | The first (bottommost) line, undivided, shows its subject meeting with his mate. Though they are both of the same character, there will be no error. Advance will call forth approval. | | The second line, divided, shows its subject surrounded by screens so large and thick that at midday he can see from them the constellation of the Bushel. If he go and try to enlighten his ruler who is thus emblemed, he will make himself to be viewed with suspicion and dislike. Let him cherish his feeling of sincere devotion, that he may thereby move his ruler's mind, and there will be good fortune. | | The third line, undivided, shows its subject with an additional screen of a large and thick banner, through which at midday he can see the small Mei star. In the darkness he breaks his right arm, but there will be no error. | | The fifth line, divided, shows its subject bringing around him the men of brilliant ability. There will be occasion for congratulation and praise. There will be good fortune. | | The topmost line, divided, shows its subject with his house made large, but only serving as a screen to his household. When he looks at his door, it is still, and there is nobody about it. For three years no one is to be seen. There will be evil. | | The situation is changing rapidly, and Yang (the active masculine force) is gaining ground. |

| The future is embodied in Hexagram 6 - Sung (Conflict): Though there is sincerity in one's contention, he will yet meet with opposition and obstruction. If he cherish an apprehensive caution, there will be good fortune. If he prosecute the contention to the bitter end, there will be evil. It will be advantageous to see the great man. It will not be advantageous to cross the great stream. | | The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Chen (Thunder), which is transforming into Chi'en (Heaven). As part of this process, movement, initiative, and action are giving way to strength and creativity. | | The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Li (Fire), which is transforming into K'an (Water). As part of this process, brightness and warmth are giving way to danger and the unknown. |
