Renaissance Tarot The HierophantThe Hierophant holds a bishop's crook and a tiny dragon, a symbol of evil vanquished. The crook and dragon are attributes of Saint Hilary of Poitiers. He wears the papal tiara. In the upper corners are Poseidon and the horse invented by the sea god. Poseidon and his brothers Zeus and Hades drew lots for rulership of the world after the successful revolt against their parents, the Titans. Zeus won the sky, Poseidon the sea and Hades the underworld.
